Over the years, I’ve slowly transitioned a lot of my products to the non-toxic, more natural variety. Things like dish soap, face + body wash are all bought with the environment and levels of toxins in mind.

But I haven’t yet delved into the world of homemade green products. Anyone else? Well, as we transition into spring, I’m feeling like this an excellent time to swap some of my store-bought products with a homemade version. And I’d love for you to join me!

Here are a few benefits to going the DIY green product route:

• Saves you money.
• Most recipes are quick to make.
• You can use easy to find ingredients.
• Less toxic than conventional products.
• Creations are customizable.

If you’re ready to explore the world of DIY products too but feel a little overwhelmed, I encourage you to (always) start where you are. You might scan the recipes listed below to see what ingredients you already have on hand or start with the product you’re in need of most.

Learn how to make scented bath salts at home with step by step instructions. The post also includes some essential oil combos for sleep, relaxation and pain relief.

3. Oatmeal honey scrub

Tanesha from Girl with Curves created this two ingredient scrub. It’s “great for gently exfoliating away dead skin cells, making the skin smoother and brighter, as well as healing dry and/or acne prone skin.”

PS: If your new green cleaning products inspire a spring clean, don’t forget about your social media!

PPS: Speaking of social media, I’m currently running my very first giveaway on Instagram! You can enter to win a  Garden of Life prize pack, valued at $120, right here.

PPPS: Lately I’ve been loving: breakfast cookies, reminding myself of these 10 guideposts wholehearted living and this episode of the Food Psych podcast.
