Do you wish you could easily push away your plate when you’ve had enough? To truly enjoy some chips and wrap up the bag when you’re pleasantly full?

You are not alone, my friend. Portion sizes/ food comas/ stress eating are among some of the most common concerns that come up with my clients and workshop attendees.

If you’re looking for a healthier and more enjoyable relationship with food, to nourish your body and give it what it needs, I invite you to try a more mindful approach to eating.

What is mindful eating?

“Mindfulness with eating involves slowing down and simply noticing or becoming aware of yourself and your surroundings as well as the pleasure you are experiencing from the food.” – MI, Clifford & Curtis

Basic mindful eating practices

  • Eating more regularly throughout the day – download a list of snack ideas here.
  • Give yourself permission to eat the foods you want – choosing satisfying aromas and textures.
  • Minimize distractions
  • Slow down
  • Pay attention to your fullness – aim to stop eating when you are comfortable, satisfied & content.

Tips to keep in mind

  • Start practicing the strategy that really resonates with you right now.
  • It’s not possible to “fail” at mindful eating. It is a practice you can return to at any time.
  • Occasionally eating past the point of comfort is a very normal and part of the human experience.

Finally – every time you check-in and learn from your eating experience, it’s a win on your path to a healthier relationship with food.
