When I first sit down with a new client, more often than not, they are seriously overwhelmed.

They genuinely want to improve their eating habits, but have no idea how to apply the latest trendy diet to their on-the-go lifestyle. I understand your overwhelm – low-carb, grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free…can start to feel pretty fun-free, am I right?

The good news is, you have the ability to develop an eating style that trumps any trend. Yep, you. Take a deep breath, let go of what you “should” be doing and know this…

Your body knows best. If you learn to truly listen, it will speak.

Begin to bring more awareness around mealtimes. After you eat or drink, check-in and ask yourself – “How’s my body feeling? Tired, energized, grumpy, grounded?”

Take it one step further and pick yourself up a little journal. Dedicate the front half of the journal to the foods that feel like fuel, and the back half to those that bring your body down.

Your little book will help you put together a unique eating style with empowerment. So the next time a diet dances into your orbit, you can confidently take what works and effortlessly leave the rest.

And “when you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things.” – Joe Namath

What: water
Feeling drained? Drink up! Water keeps all of the cells in your body hydrated and everything working in tip top form.

How: Start your day with a big glass of room temperature water with the juice of ½ lemon.

What: fats + complex carbohydrates
This combo will help keep your blood sugar levels stable throughout the night, promoting a restful sleep.

How: Almond butter + whole grain crackers + bowl of berries.

What: omega 3 fatty acids
These healthy fats help make cell membranes more fluid, improving communication between brain cells, so your happy hormone serotonin can get through.

How: SMASH fish (Salmon-Mackerel-Anchovies-Sardines-Herring) Not a fan of fish? Opt for ground flax seed, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and/or a fish oil supplement.
