If your diet has always been derived from external factors (books/blogs, clothing size or random advice) – the confusion and struggle is real. Weight can fluctuate dramatically, bloating becomes unpredictable and all of the restricted foods (aka binge foods) can leave you feeling shameful, deprived and alone.

You are not alone.

One of my beloved clients, Marianne, has been fighting in the dieting trenches for most of her adult life. And it’s through her story that you can witness the food and body peace that’s possible for you.

Marianne’s Wellness Journey

“For most of my adult life I feel like I’ve been struggling with food, vacillating between overindulgence and strict control.

From doing Slimfast in high school to becoming vegetarian in my early 20s and then ending up in Weight Watchers a number of times, I feel that my attempts to control what I’m putting into my body were always focused on my weight rather than overall health and well-being.

In recent years, I discovered the paleo diet and the Whole30, which made me feel good, but the list of restricted foods was really long!

When I could stick to the plan, I felt great, but then when I would “fall off the wagon” it could send me into a spiral of a number of days, weeks or months of poor choices.

It got to the point where I didn’t know what to eat anymore, so I went to a dietitian who gave me a standard diet. It was a “one size fits all” program that had me feeling miserable and ill at ease with my food.

I thought to myself that I’d really like to work with a holistic nutritionist and then, low and behold, somebody mentioned Claire in my Facebook feed! I looked at her website, read her story and decided to work with her after an amazing first discovery session.

In working with Claire:

  • I have learned to accept that all food is on the table; there are no villain foods!
  • I am discovering how specific foods make me feel.
  • I am making choices based on how I want to feel during and after my meals.
  • When I make choices that don’t make me feel well, I am able to recognize it, be kind to myself and make sure that I go back to what I know will make me feel healthy.

I have also picked up some habits that help me get through my day with fewer struggles:

  • Starting my day with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar in a big glass of water.
  • Having prepared snacks on hand at all times, so that I don’t fall into a hungry panicked state that ends up with poor choices.
  • Claire has also taught me about balanced meals, which helps me feel fuller longer and makes me have fewer cravings.

My work with Claire has been filled with generosity, kindness and consideration; I feel supported and in a safe space with her. I share personal details in my food tracker and she always responds with thoughtfulness and never with judgment.

Just being heard and having somebody understand those very same struggles is such a huge support.

Even though I know I still have more to learn on my journey, I can say that the message is getting through. I’m feeling more at ease with food and I can see my relationship to it is changing. I relate food to how it makes me feel and my goal is to feel vibrant and healthy!

Thanks so much, Claire, for supporting me through this journey and for all the kind encouragement that has given me the confidence and determination to continue on.”

Marianne’s journey embodies the inspiring shift of eating to change her outward appearance, to wanting to take care of herself from the inside out. So, if you’re tired of existing in-between the extremes, are ready to get rid of your “wagon”, or simply don’t know what to eat anymore, I’m here to help.

I listen carefully, and together we figure out which foods will work best in your unique body; and at the end of our time together, you’ll have learned to connect with yourself, release shame, take care of yourself… all without reading the next trendy diet.

It’s your turn, xo
