If feeling better has always felt out of reach, today’s success story is for you. It’s through Alex’s (inspiring) journey, that we’re able to see how small, realistic and self-compassionate shifts, can be the catalyst to show that your best-self is within reach.

My Wellness Journey by Alex Spinosa

“If you had asked me 6 months ago if I ever thought I could follow a plan made up for me by a nutritionist, the answer would probably involve a sarcastic laugh, followed by a definite “no”.

“I love food too much” and “it’s too hard” were (and sometimes still are) common excuses I’d use to make myself feel better about my life choices. Wanting to feel more comfortable in my clothes and feel more “regular” digestively speaking, were dream goals but not realistic goals in my mind.

As a Pilates instructor, daily schedules are constantly changing so sticking to a strict meal-plan didn’t work. Long days often ended in hangry moods and binge-eating frenzies.

Telling myself I couldn’t do any of those things anymore didn’t work, as I found myself defying my own rules out of spite. Salad after salad didn’t provide me with enough nourishment and I’d feel tired until I gave in and ate all the things.

It seemed like no matter what I did, I always ended up failing after barely 2 weeks.

After 3 months of working with Claire:

  • She helped me dig deeper, unearthing the roots of why my past methods didn’t get me to where I wanted to go, and helped me discover which will.
  • I now start my day with lemon water and a filling breakfast (even at my 5am wake-up days) using some great tips about preparing and freezing omelet-style egg cups and, my personal favourite, protein waffles.
  • This, along with drinking more water in my day and always having a prepared snack on hand, have become permanent fixtures in my daily routine.

Those, along with some extra help with certain supplements recommended for me, give me the fuel to get through my long days. With this start, making the right choices during the day is easier.

My routine isn’t perfect – far from it – but I try not to dwell on the not-so-good choices. Instead, I look forward to how I can avoid that situation in the future.

Before, I thought “losing weight” and “feeling better both inside and out” were taboo and out of reach. Now, even though I have a long way still go to in my journey, these ideas aren’t so farfetched.

Thanks to Claire, I’ve realized that it’s not just about what food you eat, but your attitude day-to-day.

It’s not the nutritional knowledge she gave me that is helping me make positive changes, it’s the support, kindness and all-around good heartedness that will make me believe that I can make these changes last.

I may not be there yet, but I continue to be excited to make small changes to take me there. I can get there. I know that now.”

So if you’re feeling frustration by failed attempts – hear me when I say it’s not you, but your approach.

I’m here to guide you towards food & body freedom – authentic to you and your lifestyle. I’m talkin’ about sustainable success, baby!

It’s your turn, xo
